Milton Rogovin died on 18.1. 2011, shortly after his 101st Birthday.



This is a great American photographer (roots in Lithuania), with a fascinating biography.
He was a politically active Opticians in New York City, in the 30's had left writings dishes activists read as they float by communist ideas. After moving to Buffalo, he worked as an independent craftsman. During his military service he created acclaimed 1943 first photographic work. Rogovin 1945, the Communist Party, was active in trade unions and was of course during the "Cold War" to the attention of FBI ("Top Red in Buffalo"). Based on a true political witch-hunt of the intelligence of the man moved his professional activities more and more to the field of photography (the first major exhibition of 1975). There were impressive series that always had the ordinary workers on the subject. can
